With mass shootings continuing across the country, TyTek asks: What change is taking place?

Jun 13, 2022

As everybody continues to mourn the horrific events that have taken place over the past few weeks including the Buffalo supermarket and Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TyTek Medical asks the question: What is being done to make this stop? According to Gun Violence Archive, a website which tracks shootings across the country, since Friday night there has been at least 7 mass shootings (a mass shooting is considered as involving 4 or more incidents for the website) which makes it the 4th consecutive weekend that law enforcement has responded to this type of incident.

On Memorial Day weekend, there had been at least 17 shootings with 13 fatalities and at least 79 injuries across 7 major cities. During this weekend, shootings in 7 cities left at least 5 fatalities, with all of these numbers always in the news it brings the question – when are we going to start seeing the numbers drop? According to abcnews, the shootings this weekend came as a bipartisan group of U.S. senators announced they has come to an agreement on a plan to ‘curb the gun violence epidemic that has plagued our country and terrorized our children for far too long.’

What kinds of fatal incidents happened this weekend alone?

Indiana: Around 2 a.m. gunshots occurred at Playo’s Nightclub, which left 2 fatalities and 4 injuries. The motive remains unclear and investigations were still occuring Sunday afternoon.

Georgia: A preliminary investigation indicates that a fight around 11:30pm erupted in Fletcher’s Place, a restaurant. The fight escalated resulting in 1 fatality and 3 injured, no arrests have been announced.

Tennessee: Around 10pm at an Apartment complex, a pool party was in action where gunfire took place, resulting in 2 fatalities and 2 injuries. Investigators are searching for a motive and a suspect on Sunday.

These plus many more shootings took place over this weekend. At TyTek we are with the rest of the country and world when we say that change is desperately needed and it’s good to hear that plans are being made as a start. However, what we can do from our point of view is be a point-of-call when it comes to all things medical. We are here to provide support, be a knowledge hub and create award-winning medical supplies which are inspired by the military.

What medical products can we provide to save lives?

From bleeding control pouches to Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) systems, we have it all when it comes to saving lives. Every minute matters and we have in mind that user-friendly medical equipment needs to be available in large gathering spaces to provide essential care before the first responders arrive. Our range of products includes:

We understand how important it is to provide point-of-injury equipment and we believe that products like our bleed control stations are a necessity for places such as schools, concert arenas, subway stations and more. “Recent medical research has revealed that there is a Platinum ten-minute period after a mass casualty incident and if you can react effectively in this time you will be able to save lives.” – Chris Tyler, TyTek Group President.
